Got out today with my cousin (matt092079) to one of his spots and had a great time. I dug my first Eagle Breast Plate it's broken in two pieces but at least I found all of it. I also dug my first Shield Nickel an 1867. And a Batwing Sling. A huge thanks to my cousin for letting me come out with him today it was a lot of fun. Thanks for looking and HH!!

That's a good hunt there. That breast plate is still alluding me. Congrats. :icon_thumright:

Thanks!
I was shocked to find one. This property is so big I kept thinking to myself that there has to be at least one plate. I'm sure there are a few more!

Nice finds! What's a Batwing Sling? Also what is that animal you photographed there? A fox?

The batwing sling is the brass piece with the rivet. Google "batwing sling buckle" to see a photo of one.

Well done! Any plate is a plate, no matter the condition! That one could be restored, if you chose to do so.

Cheers,

Buck

Thanks Erik in NJ!
BuckleBoy explained it well what a batwing sling is. Yes it's a fox, there was two of them laying on a rock sun bathing but one ran away immediately so I got some pics of the other one.

Thanks Buckleboy!!

Yes I'm thrilled to have found my second plate in just a month, May has been amazing. Hope the luck continues into June!

Awesome Finds Ryan!!!! You are having a good year for sure with that AT Pro, I did the same last year with mine.
I'm going to do some door knocking up you way soon, maybe I can stumble onto another good spot.

The is a great hunt Flyinryan. I would take a breast plate in four pieces, so two is even better, congrats :icon_thumleft:.

great day of digging. too bad about the plate but at least you got one!!

Great finds. Glad you scored some goodies at the site. It's no fun when your partner doesn't dig some great relics as well.

Yoiu & Matt both had a good hunt F2. If you want your BP restored, I know who to contact. Send me a PM. WTG & congrats, Quindy.

Thanks man! It was a beautiful site, it's going to be even nicer once it's all mowed!

Thanks Quindy.

I may leave the Breast Plate alone, it looks like it may have been broken in half on purpose. I'll PM you to get the guys name and info about the CS Staff button I found a few weeks ago.
Thanks again!

I replied to Ryan's pm with Robert's contact info. F2. You gentlemen have some outstanding places to hunt. Here's what the KY Staff Officer's button I dug from Gen. Morgan's CSA Cav. camp before and after restoration. I almost threw it away as it looked like a bent bottle cap. HH, Q.

Thanks Quindy I'll try giving him a call when I get a free chance. He did a great job straightening out that button.
