great find
any wording on it?

Awesome sword plate !

Unless your eagle swordbelt plate had a rectangular-shaped loop on one end that is broken off, it appears to be a US Model-1874 swordbelt plate. Is there any sign of broken-off "stubs" at the corners of the plate's left end?

Photos of its back would also be helpful for identifying and time-dating it.

Cool find, regardless of its time-period. :) In my nearly 40 years of relic-digging (started in March 1974), I haven't found even one rectangular eagle-plate.

Thanks. The left side definitely has broken off "stubs" on the corners and the back has one broken off piece.

That is very cool Joe. I would love to find one of those, or any kind of belt or sword plate.

Very nice find! This is probably what it looked like originally. 1851 Sword belt plate.
