Found this today, when I dug it I thought it was a piece of junk but the signal was pretty good so I put it in my "good" pouch.
After cleaning it up it is what appears to be about half of some type of badge(by the shape) and has the eagle on it, similar to the great seal.? It is lead, has some sort of shiny covering left on some of it, although that could just the be back of whatever metal may have been filled with this lead.

Any ideas or suggestions???

Any type of pin on the back for fastening it on a shirt? I checked ebay - lots of "eagle badges," but none that look like that one. Some kind of law enforcement/security badge, perhaps? What type of area did you find it in? Neat find.

Absolutely nothing on the back, no signs of ever being anything. Just solid lead. I found it pretty close to where I found the D.C. Metropolitan Police button last week.

Do you suppose that could be a paperweight ... or half of it? Lead would work for that. Maybe it was painted with a shiny coat of something. Just a guess...

I would say that's a possibility but I would expect a paperweight to be thicker/heavier. It probably wouldnt hold too much, it's pretty thin.
