I don't remember coming across any buttons with an eagle on the back. Hopefully somebody can chime in that has found one and knows more about it.

I dug this button the other day that I thought was a plain flat button. But there is an eagle in the backmark . I've never seen this, has anyone else?
I’ve got a couple just like it, i always call them 1812 war buttons but I believe they were civilian buttons made in America

This particular spot , I found a diplomatic eagle button. I wonder if that's what it is?

That's pretty cool, never saw a button like that but that eagle looks very similar to the back of the flowing hair dollar coin.

Yes, I've dug several different buttons with the eagle back mark. They date early 1800's, at the beginning of American button manufacturing, the eagle mark meant american made, though there are variants of British made using the American eagle mark.
