looks like a flag pole topper to me. Possibly Mexican, but would certainly help to have an idea of where it was found and possible age/type of activities in the area

Please post a picture of the back and bottom. Also, what coin is that in the picture you have posted?

hello hope the new pictures are a help this eagle was found in suffolk uk the coin in the picture is a twenty pence peice

I could be wrong but to me, it appears to be of Roman origin and likely hung over the door of a building or above the gate of a walled enclosure/garden/courtyard. If this is the case, them it is likely well over 1600 years old.

sorry the picture is upside down hope this picture helps , i have had the eagle looked at by various people i now know the iconography is greek / roman but nobody wants to put a date to it . i do know that over the years people have copied roman iconography .

What is it made of? looks like metal. Brass, bronze, aluminum? Looks very detailed, too detailed and complex to be cast 1600 years ago, IMO.
