e-trac or safari in light rain?

I donno about them but often in light rain a clear plastic bag works to, with some aid from duct tape. :read2:
(both over battery and screen)

I have used the Safari at the beach in a light rain with no problems. I traded my X-Terra 70 for an MXT. Since then I really haven't used my Safari.

I can tell you this...

I've had an Explorer for about 9 years and have used the Minelab cover and the Sunray (Mostly the Sunray) and don't worry about rain in the least no matter how hard it's coming down. I've lost track of how many times I've hunted in it and it's never stopped me. There's been many times it spilled for hours and no problem. I don't worry about taking my explorer out in the rain any more than I would a rubber duck.

If you just use a baggie, keep it open some so moisture doesn't build up in the baggie to make the detector unstable from the humidity.
