Took the E-Trac out this afternoon on its maiden hunt to a cornfield which was cut a couple of weeks ago. There was a house and barn located there up until the 1960's. The first pic is a rivit head used to hold a saw blade to its wooden handle. It's about 1/8" thick and is beveled. The second pic is a large button made by the "Art Metal Works, Newark, NJ". The quarter is for size reference. The Art Metal Works was the precursor to the manufacturers of Ronson lighters. I believe both were manufactured ~1900. I also found a twisted copper spoon and some kind of brass ornament. Soon the field will be plowed and who knows whats going to be brought up!
I think this is going to be a really good and long relationship with the E-Trac.

Pete

At least it's not going to the "Iron Bucket" Yeasty........I'd take that any day.......Best of Luck with the E-Trac,shouldn't take long, already finding some cool stuff!!

I too am a greeny on the E-trac. Isn't it a wonderful machine. Looks like you have a pretty good grasp of it already. I think it comes pretty natural to those who are already proficient on the Explorer. Wouldn't you agree? It is different but alot of the same tecniques will work on both. I have done very well with my E-Trac so far.
Lot's of luck ;D

I agree there are a lot of differences to the Explorers but there also are a lot of similarities. Today, the only thing I changed was the Threshold level to match what I was used to with the SE. This was in the Coin Mode of the E-Trac. It worked well. I really like the crisp tones of the E-Trac. You can tell that the micro-processor of this machine is significantly faster in reporting the information than the SE. The tones and audio amplitudes of detected targets are much the same as the SE, making it an easier transition. The Pinpoint Mode is very much like the SE and easily mastered. I canned the X-1 probe from my SE and it worked flawlessly. For me, the learning curve is mostly the reinterpreting of the FE/CO numbers. This will come in time. The icing on the cake is the ability to upload/download/save patterns and settings for the local conditions. My SE will be a well loved back-up but the E-Trac will be the main machine from now on.

Great start with the new machine Pete!
I've heard nothing but good about the E-trac so it sounds like you made a good choice.
Have fun with it!
Mike
