I found an odd piece of jewelry on the beach recently and noticed a couple oddities about it.

Usually when I find silver that is old it's very deep purple to black, this one was not quite like that.

The marking E-Sterling has me intrigued.

The hallow design has me intrigued.

Usually it takes a couple days of tumbling the piece in rocks and water to clean it up, this one shined up like new overnight.

Anyone know anything about this piece?

Also found a very detailed shipping seal :) and an 1893 Indian head penny.

No ideas. But that is a beautiful piece!

The bale seal most probably said "Waycross, Ga.".

No idea about the silver item. Charm bracelet maybe...

Congrats on the finds!

The silver item is a mezuzah, an item Jewish people wear, it would hold a prayer written on paper in miniature inserted in the little hole in the back. There are larger versions that are screwed onto doorways on the outside of Jewish residences. It is likely shiny because it is a recent drop.

Thanks! Very neat item. I'm still curious what the E-Sterling is for. Never saw that before.
