DX-1 pinpointer on the dfx

anyone have this problem ? why is it that when i put a coin up to the probe it only reads like 2 incehs away on the screen is this right? or does eveyone just go by sound?

The probe and detector are not calibrated together. The depth reading will be off just as when you change out coils that are mismatched.
