Yes. Duit is the unit of currency.

As best I can tell, 1 duit = 2 penning. 8 duit = 1 one stuiver. 20 stuiver = 1 gulden or guilder. Therefore, 160 duit = 1 gulden. Does that help? ???

I guess it makes as much sense as "2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar..."

Don's right. This is a duit of Gelderland and is listed as such in Krause & Mishler's Standard Catalog of World Coins, 1700-1800.

Duit Gelderland (the Netherlands) 1766.
Obverse: Rococo-style display with text .D. GEL RIÆ in three lines and the year 1766 and the sign of a pollard tree. The D represents ducatus (duchy).
Reverse: Crowned coat of arms of Gelderland and the text:
IN DEO. EST. SPES NOSTRA meaning "Our hope is in the lord".
