Durango Colorado gold?

I am going on a ten day prospecting trip to Horse Gulch just east of Durango CO, a friend of mine has twenty acres in horse gulch. The Property has a valley dry wash, water only during the rainy season.
Does anybody know if there is any gold in that area? Thanks for any input.

Durango is my home town, and I have never heard of any placer activity in Horse Gulch. That doesn't mean nothing is there, but if there was I imagine it would be receiving a lot more attention. Let us know if you find anything.

Honestly, the only people I know finding any gold in that area are going into the high country. Sometimes you can use a metal detector to glean small amounts from old mine tailings, or you may get lucky and find a small placer in a creek.
