Duplin county area anyone??

hello tarheelboys, chinquapin nc here. looking for some good sites myself. have you tried the old schoolhouse. looks like from your pin point your in beulaville/soccer feild area. i have hit the park there a couple of times. also have you noticed the old house the loggers have cleanned up around on hwy 41 toward muddy creek? dont know how old that site my be but would like to find out. any way nice to hear some one from around the area is on the boards here. let me know if you want to get together for a hunt some time. my email is [email protected]

Guys there are tons of old house sites that I would love to hit in those areas. When I am up that way I am working, so I find it hard to spend my weekends up there. If you can find the owners they will give you permission.

YEA GETTING PERMISSION IS SORT OF A THING AROUND HERE ::). STILL I HAVE HAD SOME LUCK WITH SOME OF THE OLD COMMUNITY BUILDINGS AND GATHERING PLACES THAT ARE CURTAIN TO GIVE UP SOME OLD COINS. AND I LOVE TO HIT THE OLD SCHOOL SITES EVEN THE ONES THAT ARE NO LONGER STANDING.

yea Red, i live around the corner of those soccer fields. That field is usually where I can be found... practicing (coaching) soccer or baseball. I hit the old school grounds very briefly one afternoon and uncovered a dime. That area has been picked over so much it is crazy. I am extremely new to the hobby, (2 weeks). I can remember seeing many people MD that school over the years. I am wanting to hit the Sarecta area sometime soon. I have been doing some research and found that Sarecta was the first town established in Duplin county... year -- 1736. there is not much to that community now... just a couple of buildings. I have some areas in mind, just need to organize them, and then find info about them.

Hey Red... earlier post above you said, "also have you noticed the old house the loggers have cleanned up around on hwy 41 toward muddy creek?"

Yep, did notice and tried to hit that house this past Sunday afternoon. My wife's family lives right there and that old house was her Aunts a many year ago. The problem with that house is the logging company left stumps, trees and logs everywhere. I could not swing the MD two feet without hitting a log. I had been under the impression that I could just move the stuff over, but quickly found out they weigh in excess of a few hundred pounds. I don't think they will clean up after themselves either! That might be something in the future. There is a small area cleared out towards the Chinquapin side of that house and in fact that is where they (Wife's Aunt) moved to from that old house. It is where the logging trucks entered the area. I found a penny there... 1982 if I remember correctly.

Do you know anything about the Sarecta area? I would like to try a few places around there. You interested? Look up at my earlier post to you for that info.

when you leave buck corner going east their is a road on the left that is a dead end about a mile from the corner there is a old school building at the end also there was a rail road that can to chinqupen in the 1880's the track stop just about where that old warehouse in the area of that tire place on 41 I think there is a old barn on the right across from the tire store

I am familiar with the Chinquapin area... but not that dead end road. How close is it to the newer Elementary school?.. and is it on that side of Buck's corner?
