I recently bought some boxed lots at a local auction, and this piston was in a box marked "Crashed WWII Bomber Parts". The piston is 4.5" in diameter, and about 6 1/8" high. I dont see any markings on it. Can anyone tell me what this piston may have belonged to? Is it from an airplane, or is it automotive? Any help is appreciated.

Here is a piston from the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp as used in the B-24 and B-26 bombers

The B-17 and B-25 used the Wright Cyclone radial

Those two engines probably made up 85% or more of the engines for all U.S. bombers.

But there were LOTS of bombers in WWII.
