Dug up a THING today.

A metal thing with a moving part that has a point on it.
It's about 3 inches high and a inch and a half wide at it's widest.
Very rusty but the pointy thing spins freely.
The long end is bent at the tip but I suspect was originally straight.

I'm thinking a castor perhaps?

Hmmm? Maybe some kind of anti-kick-back roller for a table or radial saw of some type?

Does it look like there could have been other spikes attached to it? Maybe one of those things pulled behind a plow to aireate the soil?

I believe you've called it correctly. Looks like a broken wheel piece of a caster to me.

it's the remains of an early caster the little ball actually was pushed in the leg while the wood was damp, and then the wood would dry and seize around the ball to keep it in place. but after a short time they would fall out anyway
