Reminds me of a manufacturer's plaque, maybe from some old electrical appliance, generator or a car's motor?
I see the word "MOTOR" top right in capitals... Can't make out the first part.

If its car related and has dates with 1909 and 1908 it could be worth something, no?

i think curly is right . but to answer your question , unless in almost pristine shape it is worth little to nothing. and even in pristine shape its only valuable if you have a buyer . i see alot of antiques on here that are in such bad shape they are told they are not worth any monetary value , but worth alot to the finder as a keepsake.

Too bad is damaged...metal is tin luminum alloy probably used on washing machine (old ringer type) or refrigirator motor. to allow service person know data about engine and or gears. I havn't seen this style plaque on antique cars...but, who knows.

it might just be a plate were the ser. numbers would be, and the dates inspected, like on a fire extiguisher, that would explain the 1908 and 1909 dates on the plate, did you try running some hot water over to try to exspose more info on the plate?

Yeah I ran hot water and that's about all I could see. And yeah definitely inspection or repair dates from something. I think this thing is really cool I wish I could nail down EXACTLY what it is and what it's from.

I appreciate that curly but I still don't know exactly what it came off.

My Dads thoughts:

I think it is a Part Number plate with different mark type options ending in 1908 to 1914 in a vertical line within each rectangle number section. You can see the [19]10 ending under the 1909 line, the 19[12], the 1[9]13 line and the 191[4] in the final boxed section with all various letters or numbers in each section prior to those figures.
