Hey all, Naturegirl and i were mdn an old homestead site today and dug this 8 3/4" diameter CONOCO/AMALIE/CONTINENTAL OIL COMPANY porcelain paddle sign up in the front yard. A little worse for wear, but still was an interesting find! I believe it dates from mid 1920s to 30s... buckshot

Very cool! Did any of the porcelain attack you from the worn area? I just ask cuz when I dug out a sign recently suddenly the porc near the rust just started shooting off the sign.....at VERY high speed. Had to walk away from it for awhile lol My thought was perhaps the temp difference and then the fact that it had a bit of a curve to it due to the bend in the ground it was removed from and now it was no longer being "supported" by the bend.
Anyhow.. again Nice find =)

Thanks vandaria, There were a couple of pops on the other side, but i figured they were done with my digging tool.
The area has a long relationship with Oklahoma's early oil history... buckshot

I have a soft spot for any type of signage and thats a beauty. AAA+++

I love finding any kind of signage. I'd be thrilled. :)

Thanks, Jarl and the colonel. It was a nice surprise for both of us after digging a lot of iron parts that we could not identify. The porcelain signage is neat to find!

Very cool !
