Hi all,

I dug this a few weeks ago while poking around in a bottle (shard actually) dump. It was the only thing in the hole not broken.

The wife confiscated it immediately and put in a jar that she keeps clay marbles, old jacks and old crayons in and displays on a table. She takes all of my cobalt bottles too... :dontknow:

From the glass in the hole, I don't think it is ancient, but not modern either. Any information on it would be very much appreciated.

Looks like an Akro Agate..

I'd date it 1930s/40s. This was one of the more-common types of Akros. But it is in fine shape so hold onto it. As re your wife, quit showing her everything you find. I remember a Blackfoot indian girlfriend of mine back around 1988. She was on the chunky side but knew how to start fires from scratch. This comes in handy out in the boondocks. You want an indian with you when the going gets rough. But one day we discovered an old 1800s bottle dump. I figured we'd divide the goods equally between each other. No way. She had drank several beers and went-savage on me. I was lucky to escape with my scalp.

Thanks Marbleguy. That range of dates makes sense when compared with bottle shards I found. Another bottle digger I know finds marbles by the handful when he digs dumps, but this is my only one. Attention to detail I guess. Any good online resources for marbles you would recommend?

I offer cobalt and marbles to the wife because she is an incredible cook and keeps me a bit on the chunky side ;D. She has some Indian in her blood too, I wear a hat to hide my scalping.
