dug digger lost his digger!

My favorite has always been the Leshke (I think that's how it is spelled). Strong as heck, and sharp with a saw tooth edge on one side. Fantastic digger - I just bought another one so my 11 year old who is starting to detect with me has one to use too.

thanks jim do you think kellyco might have them?

The kind that you don't lose! Hahahahahahahaha. Kidding, I've managed to lose one digger, one pinpointer, and a full size shovel. (Got that back, luckily) Kellyco has some, but if you have a detecting store nearby, always good to try there. The leshe(?) is a good, sturdy brand.

Why yes, yes I do know EXACTLY what kind to get ;-)

Go to your local Home Depot, and in the gardening department, look for the little blue handled AMES digger. I think was like $10-15 and it blows the $40 schwinn handled digger away. While you're there, get yourself a treausre pouch, complete with belt, for $13 (same one you find on MD'ing sites for $39.99, and the digger fits perfect too!)

Send a portion of your new dug treasures to me for my finders fee ;-)

Just because we're in a hobby does not mean we should pay all these "treasure hunters" retail x5 because it says "metal detecting" somewhere on the product!

The treasure they seek is in your wallet!

yep a "carpenters" heavy duty nail apron (treasue pouch)--and the BLUE handled AMES digger both winners without breaking the bank.

I second this!!! I bought two a couple of years ago.. carry the other in my "spares" bag... along with extra machine hardwear.. batteries.. headphones.. gloves.. armcup assembly for my DFX.. spare arms.. two coils.. you know... pretty much a everything except a spare machine!!

I've used it pry up some pretty big rocks and dig in concrete like ground w/o so much as the slightest bend!!! I use to use a air crew survival knife until I snapped it off in the ground.. sooo I'm pretty hard on my digging tools!!!

Dug Digger, have to agree with Monkey Boy, I have been using and Airforce survival knife, and it works great, even has a saw edge for the most stubborn roots....

I'm sorry you lost your digger Digger! :)

I left behind my pinpointer in a private yard one time. It was a Vietnam era mine prober and was going to be hard to replace. Lucky for me the homeowner found it; saving it for me to retrieve.

Here's a link for the Leche product. Expensive, but for a reason; they are the best out there.

Good luck swinging!

The AMES digger is sweet. I live in arkansas where we have more rocks than dirt, and I have had zero problems with this tool, and for $15 buck you can't beat it

paint the new one RED OR ORANGE

definately a Lesche digger-they cost a bit but are well worth the money. I got mine for free from White's for submitting a story that they used.

im sure the lesche would be good if you are rich...but i gotta say that i dont see how the ames digger could be beat i paid $10 for mine on sale at home depot and its awesome, i was so mad at the past 10 diggers i had gone through in the past week that the first thing i did was shove it hilt deep into sun dried clay by the riverbed and pull it back as hard and fast as i could, i was expecting it to break but instead it just pulled up a massive plug of dirt. i have never seen a digger that holds up as good as this one. it has a serrated edge and a sharpened edge, it has a wierd sharp hook on the side of it for cutting rope, and the butt of it is really big so you can shove it in without hurting your palm.

thanks GRB I'm still hoping to find mine it's like an old friend, painting it orange is a good idea, thanks EDDE I'm open to all suggestions

Before painting anything with flourescent orange or green, put a base coat of flat white on first, it will really make whatever you paint stand out, also if you can get some luminous paint, your digger will glow in the dark.
