I think this is a collar stud. And I am guessing ww1 ish.

If it is a brass, domed disc it is a post WW2 Cavalry enlisted collar brass. I don't believe it is a single stud but I think it is missing the clutch assembly that would screw onto what looks like a stud. The dome shape was C - late 40's to mid 60's.

I would agree with that .. There is also one on Ebay listed in the category of
Collectibles >Militaria >Current Militaria (2001-Now) >Original Items >Pins

Thanks, but I don't think so. This badge is much larger and older. I have had it for about 20 years and it looked the same as it does now. It measures approx 1 1/2" across. I do believe it had a stud. I have every cavalry collar disc used from WW1 until Iraqi Freedom. I think we are still looking? I do appreciate all input. Bill

Is it part of a bridle? Maybe a private purchase piece? A sweetheart piece?

It's hard to tell by looking at the photos.

I should have a coin or something to show the size. It was in the ground in Barberton Ohio at the Barber buildings which were used for training before WW1 and later. Bill
