Got out to a site in the lowcountry of South Carolina this weekend that I'd hunted hard before over the years. It had been real good to me in the past but had become extremely overgrown. This time I happened to catch it after all the thick underbrush had been cleared out, talk about lucky!! I dug several colonial and union civil war buttons before my goldbug ran over this. It's amazing what you leave in a site that's thick, but when the undergrowth is all gone it's almost new again. My goldbug sounded off on it and as I looked down I spotted a small disc on top of the ground.I knew I had a button but figured it to be just another flattie. I brushed the sand off and this is what I saw, hope you enjoy the pics!
