Todays dig started like any other!
They are tearing the main road out of the park that I haunt.
And are soon to grade the adjacent field
So while they were working I headed over to the sled hill
It's where people have lined the hills for years to watch parades
on the nearby mainstreet
I got a solid 37 on my safari. Dug down and pulled
The most gorgeous mint! Barber dime I have found to date
A 1905-s complete with custom lesche knick
But man was I happy
6 inches from this one I get another solid 37!
I'm thinking maybe twins?
YES! 1898 BARBER!
So I'm full game for this area at this point and I get a nickel tone
beautiful sounding 14 I dig and out pops the sword
I went on to pull a 39 mercury dime 10 feet away
What a great day!
Not much else of interest for the day.
But the sword stickpin blew me away
I believe it is this sword
It has the eagle and 3 lines on the front
Swords, Officer, Model 1860 Staff & Field officer, Post Civil War
I found this site through Google Image search
Its deffinatley gold the pin a lower karat and the handle higher
Maybe it was dropped by a civil war vet! Or a soldiers lady!
My imagination will run wild forever with this find
