what would YOU do? ??? :icon_scratch:

today I had the chance to buy an 1885 V nickel in excellent shape.......BUT.........it was a dug coin, and all red. Do you think anyone who collects V nickels would still want it since it is "the key" of the set?

I think I could get it for a decent price, I bought all his dug silver coins........what is your opinion? does any businesses professionally clean coins without damaging them?

Personally I wouldn't buy it for resale unless I had a buyer, Dug coins are hard for me to sell. I don't know if cleaning it would make it any better. I'm sure there would be a market for it, but how much it will get knocked down in price who knows, Just my opinion, let's see what the others think.

From my experiences, cleaned coins do not do very well with serious collectors. If your going to keep the coin - go for it. If it's rare or a key date - leave it be... 8)
