Duck Effigy and Glass Beads

I posted images of this 7 years ago, and after seeing nice trade beads posted by others today, I thought folks might enjoy another look, including images I left out in the original thread. Of course, this was not found this way, but strung in modern times. They were all found at the Marsh Site, a NY Seneca village site dating to about 1660. Red glass trade beads, a shell duck, and a shell crescent. There is some polish on the duck, and some folks have suggested it's bone. Not sure, they were traditionally made of shell....

Most ducks, but not the one from the Marsh site, had eyes. As seen in this example passed down for generations in a Seneca family, and found at the Power House Site, a Seneca village dating 1640-60.

usually when i see "effigy" in the title i think..."oh boy, here we go again"...nice to actually see one....
 

in personal hunting i've only found 3 stone pieces that were NA drilled, 2 were broken. can't imagine finding something like that. thanks so much for sharing.
