I went out to my claim today. It's dry as a bone up there but I haven't been out in a while. Moved a big heavy boulder. I've eyed this rock for years. Black and a lot heavier than most that size. Was planning to dry pan it down a bit, classify off the bigger stuff. Picked this right out of the pan. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1441604636.268411.jpg

Nice....... I think I would try to get a dry washer up there...

I'm working on it for sure.

Nice picker! Wondering what gold is under a big rock, makes me think of an old Clint Eastwood movie.

I have dry panned when sampling in many spots where getting to the creek was going to be an effort and I wanted first to make sure it was warranted. It has saved me from humping a bucket of material down a hillside, only to find the spot was barren. That said, I prefer to pan with water and sometimes take it to the dry spot instead.

panning with water from a water bottle is much more effective to give you an idea of gold content if you are sampling - understandably, even for small production, supplying water is sometimes out of the question. Awesome job though, that's some nice color!

I'm in the build process, right now, of a pulsed dry jig for gold recovery. Uses no water. I've already proven it can recover 300 mesh tungsten (same SG as gold). I'm having a little trouble on gems, but think I've got that solved with the new unit. This runs quiet on a 12v battery. No air, no water, and only a little dust compared to a typical drywasher. Also, it recovers flour gold.
