Here's a video that came from the Whites newsletter:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HqaFeDxm1c&feature=youtu.be&mc_cid=faa0411d03&mc_eid=064aa0491c

There's a funny story about how he was dressed when he asked for permission.

For those of you who are impatient with videos (usually me), go to to 2:40, that is where his story starts about how he was dressed. It's a short story.
The whole video is worth watching.
Especially interesting is where he made the find and the different opinions on what he found.

Think I'm going to Goodwill, buy a suit or maybe a tuxedo and go door-knocking.
Imagine if someone knocked on your door wearing a tuxedo and asked you for permission to metal detect their yard.

Kinda like Trick or Treating.

Thanks for sharing! :occasion14:

Any serious permission seeker knows that dress and conduct are important. A suit is over the top clownish.

You are right a suit is over-the-top.
That's why I'm thinking tuxedo.
I've been accused of a lot of things but being serious is not one of them

rent a limosine to roll up in. Act with such importance and power that they can't refuse!

Cool story!

That is an interesting story.

I find it interesting that some can determine authenticity from a photo.

Funny story I would think it was a religious person wanting to talk for a few hours lol

The Limo would be a nice touch.

We have the young Latter-Day Saints that ride around on their bicycles and spread the word.
I thought about dressing like they do, in black pants, white shirt and black tie and then ride up to the house on a bicycle.

I don't have a white horse.
Maybe I could paint my bike white.

How about a publishers clearing house shirt lol
