Dredge question

Tanaka did not make a dredge. Several companies used a Tanaka or Taz Tanaka engine/pump to power small 1 1/2" dredges. Most of these small dredges were made in the 90's. I have a Pack Rat 1 1/2" dredge that was a very good backpack type unit.

I had one of those engines on a 2 inch Keene dredge . YEP IT WAS LOAD to say the least ! I got ride of that engine and got a 4 stroke eng. / pump from Keene and it made all the difference in the world.

Here's a picture of the other one with the tanaka pump

Both of them are loud, think weed whacker running full bore. Is the second dredge with the Tanaka pump an older proline?

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input. I wasn't really looking for a dredge, but saw these on a local for sale site and though... maybe I have space in my garage for a small dredge. They only want 300.00 for the older proline. Maybe buy a Honda for it?

If replacing the power is the plan the main thing I'd look at are the condition of the pontoons, the black Keenes look like their inflatable variety which are still available for sale. The rigid prolines need a good poking and prodding to see if the plastic is still flexible, it needs to be nice and flexible if it shows any sign of stress pressing on it with your hand walk away.

Good advice, maybe you could find one of those plastic Keenes they made a few years back, 3" with 5hp motor and pump.. I had an old 3 box 5" on plastic floats was a work you to death deal, but I was young and ruff, tuff, hard to bluff then...Maybe a little dreamer dumb too lol.....Geo
