dredge floats

A lot of the pros use 30 & 50 gallon drums for floats because they're cheap but strong. I use 5 to 30 gallon plastic drums for all of my floats. There was a place on line where you could buy manufactured ends for the drums also to give them the curve if you need to stack them end to end for large barges and so on. Plastic or steel, both work fine for different situations.

Ya I was looking from a manufacturing standpoint. So I guess everyone is saying that all the current dredge manufacturers have their own injection mold shop or rotational plastic molding station in their work area. As well for the water pump systems, I figured they were manufactured some place made by sand casting. Hmm I will continue my search thanks.

Use 15 gallon barrels... They are lite, strong.

Barrels work just fine for whatever ya need, also as supplemental floatation. Utilized on hoisting barges also.I've used the plastic on 3"-8" dredges throughout the years. On that monster 6' triple one was under the middle sluice extension because of added weight from modifications-John

OP, My guess is they outsource them locally. Once they have their design they order as they need. Shipping is quit a bit of money based on the bulk.

Ya I am trying to figure out the out source.. I will find one locally. Thanks for your efforts!

Hotels, motels have them leftover from soap /bleach. Dry cleaners, plating shops etc etc. County dumps have 100s a them for pennies on the dollar-John

You may try those new compressed foam floats i think they use them for duck blinds like 6- 8 inched thick 4 X 8 holds like 1000 pounds up.
