I just got a call and an email from my dad who started CRH about a year ago 2 boxes a week. He called to let me know that he found 80 brand new 1966 40% in a box earlier today. He couldn't believe how mint fresh they were. He was so excited about the 80 that he went back to the bank to get tomorrows box today. Here are some before and after photos of that box.

Here is his commentary on the picture . The two rolls off to the left weigh 25 or 26 grams and don’t show any silver on the ends, the rolls in the middle weigh 30-31 grams all show silver on the ends. The 4 rolls off to the right weigh 32 and 33 grams and show silver.

Here is his commentary on the picture. Left to right - 65,66,67,67,67,68,68,69

Bottom 3 liberty and 1 - 64.

I am not sure of the exact numbers but it looks like 938 (40%), 3 Walkers, 1 90% Kennedy.

I'll be heading up to see the haul this weekend.

Mucho kudos to your dad, GT

He sure got an early Father's Day present.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice. Find out what the total count is. Is there clads mixed witht those stacks or all silver? If he is in CA it looks like the same color rolls as some boxes I got early this year. They were full of bright 1966 also. Big numbers too.

SF,

It is all silver. There was only $29.00 worth of clad and $20 of it was in the rolls to the left in the photo. With numbers this big you know there is at least one more big number box in that pallet.

Wow. I wonder if it was from the same pallet I hit earlier. It didn't have as much as your pops got but it started at 356 - 40's then started dropping. I hit them for 2 weeks. Same color rolls as your Dad.

Holy %%%%, that is a insane box congrats to your dad ... BANNER find imo... wow .... I cant imagine ripping a box like that mother ... maybe someday ... anyway kudos to your dad , Ed

Yea I'm speechless. I hope he has a strong heart. Mine would be jumping out my chest. That's better than my whole year combined. And I search 12-15 boxes a week +. It's been pretty bad up here in Michigan.

What an inspiration. Congrats to him.

Hi All,

Here is an update to the find. It was not 80 40% halves in the first box it was $80 in 40% halves in the first box. No wonder he got the second box the same day. He is still grinning about the find. In fact I forwarded him the link to this post and he was surprised at the response. He even registered on this site and I guess he will start posting. He chose the user name 84GT350 since he actually has that car unlike my 65GT350 that still remains an IPO / lottery car.

I wasn't able to get a year by year breakdown but the count was correct 938 40% 3 Walkers and 1 64. Since he was leaving town this week he didn't order any halves so the rest of the bag must still be on the pallet waiting.

With huge numbers so concentrated in one box, I bet that someone dumped either a half or full "junk" bag of 40%s at once. No way these all came from here and there customers taking in their coins. Someone must have found a relative's stash of silver and decided to cash it in to buy something important (sarcasm) ;D.

What a great find!

Jim

Missed this post. Holy cow that's one amazing box. That much silver is a find of a lifetime.
