I went back to get the other 5 boxes today as I got 1 yesterday (2 boxes from 3 different banks). 1 bank forgot to order them for me, then another bank only ordered 1 box for me. I started off getting my 2nd box from the bank that gave me my 1st dream box yesterday. An wouldn't you know it, it was another dream box!!! Oh yea, the 2 dream boxes were dated Oct. 14th. I started finding silver right off the bat, then about half way through I found my very first Walking Liberty half while hunting!!! Its an early one to boot, 1918!!! That box contained:

1918 Walker

1964d 3
1965 2
1966 2
1967 5
1968d 7

Then I went to the bank that only ordered 1 box for me. It only had 3 silvers:

1966 1
1969d 2

So in total I got 23 keepers from 2 boxes. 4 90% and 19 40% for a total of 4.2568oz.

Here is the pix, I took the pix in the dining room and the lighting is not the best - enjoy...

I also found this half that I think is a "clipped" error. But it maybe just mutilated by somebody just killin time. What do you think?

Her is some closeups of both clips. Its not smooth, but I did zoom in a lot.

Thanks for any input on the clipped coin.

Wow! Nice results times two! Keep at it!

Nice hunts TF! That clipped half does not seem like an after-market down grade, more like a vendor error. Might want to get that one verified by a good source.

Where are you dumping these TF? I still have my first box, trying to get rid of them here and there is not the way to go. I just can't see taking a hit and paying a fee to dump them, especially if I'm not finding much. My first box yielded 6 or 7 40%'ers, and that was when silver was up around $16 an OZ.

Are you looking for double die errors too? I would think this would really slow down the searching.

Congrats on your Walker, and your Bennies from before! The 40%'ers will stack up nicely too :)

I just take all of my dumps to my bank (Chase) and tell them I want to cash them in. I just toss them into a canvas bag and they take them and run them through their coin counter machine for free. I use 4 banks - I pickup boxes from 3 other Chase banks but only dump them at 1 (not a pickup bank). I never had any problems ordering or dumping them. If they try to charge you just take them to another bank. The most I have dumped in one day was $2,000 (4 boxes) and my bank never said anything about it.

As for error's, When I search I first edge hunt when I first unwrap them, then I read every date as some of the silvers have dirty edges and if something wierd catches my eye, I will keep it. I am also looking for Proof's and Commeretives but I haven't found any of them yet.

I have to start trying that TF. The first box that I had ordered went alright, but the teller manager there told me she would order the boxes for me without a problem, but I had to let her know if I found anything. I never really talked to her after that, but I'll have to probably mention something if I start ordering the boxes again. Supposedly there is one other guy in my area that's doing this as well.

Do the tellers ever ask you WTF you are doing? I'd like to know what keeps them pacified. I have people at various locations like McD's and Dunkin Donuts that ask me what's up with the half dollars, "do you collect these or something?" they say. I just blame my dad and tell them HE collects them, and gives them to me for occasions like my birthday and xmas, instead of just slappin' some dovesacks in my hand. They laugh and never seem to catch on that I'm spending way more than a couple dovesacks over time. Sometimes I just say, "no". I also paid for part of a muffler job with some. The guy was like, "I thought you were kidding" after I asked him if I could pay for part of it in half dollars and then proceeded to pull them out of my backpack and put the rolls on the counter.

It's definitely something to do during the winter months. I might even try other coins, working my way back from quarters to pennies. Probably will stay away from nickels though.

This might sound strange, but because every guy likes a good bank heist movie, I always feel a little weird walking out of the back with a freaking box of $500 in half dollars. Walking IN with $2000 worth would be insanely heavy... 100 pounds actually.

If the bank asks, I just tell them that i'm lookin for certen dates for my collection. When I took the $2,000 in, I did it $500 at a time. Got my $500 and went to my other bank and got another box, then dumped them and over and over again until I went thru 4 boxes.

I would actually recommend looking through nickels, war nickels are silver and I usuially get 1 in every box. Not to mention I have found 4 Buffalo nickels and 2 1939d's.

I hear the 25c boxes are the hardest to find silver, then its dimes. I went through 6 boxes of dimes and all of them were skunks. So I gave up on them.

But for gods sakes, don't try to spend your dumps, that would take forever, just take them into your bank and get rid of them. LOL
