Found this on a old trail...scratched a little at the back and it looks like copper. has a nice patina on it, managed to free the hole on the top so it must have been some kinda necklace?

Yes, cool item...!
Great Find! :icon_thumright:
More research needed, huh?
That's what makes TH'n so much fun - the research into
who dropped it and when.
After a certain time, brass wasn't used and copper, silver and etc
had to have been used.
Chinese influence...?

Cool find. I would be tempted to work the front of the disc with an Andres 0 steel wool pencil to even out the surface, not remove the patina. Maybe a scotch brite pad cut and carefully used to smooth out. The hope would be that some text or additional clues will emerge below the dragon.

The number of toes on the dragon might be a clue - Japanese dragons have three toes, Chinese dragons have five. And welcome to Treasurenet SteelTownDigger!

I think I remember seeing necklaces like that when the County fair came to town?

I love stuff like that Im not good at giving an ID to many things which can be good cause its fun to research and every time I find a Foreign coin for a brief secon I hope I have some ancient Myan coin with Hebrew inscriptions from before Jesus walked the earth. Never happens but its fun to hope. Great find

This is not Asian, the style is completely wrong it is too western in my eyes...
Looks a little like a welsh dragon, a little like Francis the 1st Fire Salamander but not quite like any of those two.
Just some suggestions... I guess lots of French used to pass that road?

That is cool. Looks to be cast copper or brass soldered on copper plate. Don't know about toes but good info to start your research.
