I think that procedure would just end up in constant hang-ups.

I would think. The area would have to be a somewhat sandy flat bottom & void of all bottom debris.... Might be able to find such a bottom with a good fish finder. 015.JPG

The bottom goes from sand to muck and everything between..would be super slow going. Thousands of shells were fired there but no idea how many are easy access.
Area is loaded with gators so I am not keen on trying to water detect it or hookah dive it.

Thinking more about it, a fish finder just might work. You -couldn't use- a fish finder while your trolling with the magnet , by the time you saw the debris on the screen it would be too late , the magnet would already be hung up in it..... You Could search a grid W/fish finder for debris and if its clear mark it w/balloon/weighted markers....Then troll that grid w/ the magnet, might work :)

I think a fish/deepth finder would be a huge advantage. I'll be using my small boat So I'll look into a removable finder.

I have a friend that uses a side mount 500 lb mag and he pulls it with a kayak and a trolling motor. If he hits a snag he just stops and backs up a bit until he gets his magnet clear. Very messy if the bottom is muddy and you pull up a lot.

Yeah they have small portable ones. How deep is that water ?

I would think not more then 10 feet at most in the area I'm wanting to go.

If its only 10 feet deep and if the water is clear this might work
