Bottle Views (click to enlarge):
Dr Sage's Catarrh Remedy was manufactured by Dr R V Pierce, the same man behind Dr Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. When Dr. Pierce moved from Ohio to New York, this was one of the first medicines he produced. It was intended as a nasal wash (douche) that would cure Catarrh (basically what we would call a stuffy nose) no matter the cause. In fact he was so sure it would work, that he offered a five hundred dollar reward (about $11,000 in 2025 dollars) for any case of catarrh that his medicine would not sure.
And here is an advertisement from 1878 with more details, including usage (click to enlarge, it seemed too big to include full size here).

This bottle was cleaned with soap and water, but looks the same after cleaning as it did before. I will get a smaller bottle brush for it and try again, though it looks pretty good as is.
* I couldn't find any sold listings for this particular bottle, so these are from "buy it now" cost plus shipping on eBay at the time of posting.
