Doctor S B H is Doctor Samuel Brubaker Hartman. He was a physician and surgeon who became a multi-millionaire through his medical practice and the sale of patent medicines. This particular medicine, Peruna, was created in 1877 by the doctor and his brother. By 1880 they had hired employees, and production was moved to Ohio in 1883. This bottle is presumed to have come from the Ohio production and is dated accordingly.
Peruna was intended as a cure for Catarrh (respiratory ailments), which Dr Hartman claimed was the basis for a great many other illnesses. Its main component was apparently alcohol, at 25%, and it sold quite well.

By 1900, it commanded a full page in the LA Times (click to enlarge).

But with prohibition and medical reform, Dr. Hartman's empire came to a close by the 1940's.
