Hello everyone.

I have been lurking this forum for a while, finally got in gold prospecting and decided it was time to create my account.

I got in prospecting a few months back and I am now building my own highbanker.

I own a BGT and a Gold cube, and my handy pans, but I am now adding this to my tools.

I am going right now with a 10inchx30inch top section, with a flare to 16inchx30inch.

Will be paired up with a Honda wb20x, and will run it at about 50-60% (This is all theory, has to be tested on the field.)

I will run Gold hog mats, Expanded / Moss / Ur mat under the headerbox.

I will then run Scrubber / Talon / Scrubber / Talon in the first sluice.

In the second sluice I will run UR / Razorback / Downdraft / Razorback / Downdraft.

The first section should be picthed right about 8 1/2 to 7 1/2 degress, where as the last section should be about 1 1/2 degree shyer.

I am dealing with very chunky flakes and small to big nuggets. For example, in a two day trip I panned out a 0.55g nugget, a 0.2 chunky flakes about 8-9 more flakes for a total of 1.4 grams. There was only 0.2g more in very fine gold.

If I go further down on the river, it becomes very small 50 mesh to 200 mesh gold with almost no flakes at all, in a matter of a few kilometers.

On the lower part of the river I can sluice 0.5 grams in 5 hours of all under 50 mesh.

I doubt the mat will be able to hold the bigger flakes and the small and / or bigger nuggets since the grooves are not so big.

Should I add a bit of moss with expanded?

What are your opinions,

Thank you very much!

Will be adding pictures of the gold shortly, to give an example.

I have been modifying a box that is basically the same as yours. With advice from Doc. Watch his video on the Raptor. Your gonna want to ditch the moss and expanded in the head go just ur with the big reverse riffle up front. Top box should be Razorback- talon -downdraft ,second box should alternate ur- scrubber -bedrock.

Hey Goldwasher,

Doc himself recommended me the setup posted up top.

I may as well forget the moss, without the expanded wont the UR run off too fast?

Also, I will have: Scrubber UR Talon Downdraft Razorback.

No Riverhog or bedrock, unfortunetly everythings ordered and am in South America so getting the mats here is not cheap!

Is the bedrock really a must from your testing? Is it to be put for bigger gold?

Thanks!

Ouch! I bet it cost more to ship than to buy the matt....

I had ur bedrock and scrubber in my 12x 48 box.....and was blown away to find big flakes and lead in my second box!!!!! I was introducing material to the head of the sluice with out any real riffle to create an initial low pressure area so even though fines were settle out random flat and wiry stuff was traveling down the box. Doc recommended Talon and razorback so with those matts and one large reverse riffle before the damper I haven't found any flakes or pieces past the first foot of the box testing at home. Our claim has only had water on it for two weeks now so I haven't ran the new set up in the field yet.

What did you have in your 12x48? Bedrock Scrubber or Talon Scrubber?

I was going Talon Scrubber, I dont have any Bedrock.

Yea, I was going to put a big reverse riffle also.

You would go with which mats in the first 30 inches with what I hve availible then?

UR Scrubber Talon Scrubber DD?

Last 30 inches?

UR Razorback Downdraft Razorback Downdraft?

Also, big nuggets 1-5 grams can be found here, do you think they would stick to the reverse riffle?, it is one of the reason why I wanted to put expanded in the headerbox, to catch those nuggets.

Was thinking adding 3 bare riffles in the flare also to catch nuggets traveling down.

Thanks!

Francis

That reverse riffle would be a practically unpassable obstacle for a 1 to 5 gram nugget. My first box is 10x48 with u.r.- reverse riffle at the joint of, then-downdraft-talon-razorback-downdrft-talon-rzrback-downdraft my second section is 12x48 with u.r.- bedrock(original) scrubber-scrubber-bedrock-u.r.-scrubber-bedrock. Running at 45 gpm. The pitch of the sluices are adjusted based on the material ran. My feed/wash box classifies to 1/2 inch.

Braggarts!
Sounds like a sweet setup, can't wait to see it!

Heheh, post the pictures! <3
