My, son came across this in a spot where cattle cross a small branch from pasture to the feedlot. He had it on seat of truck for since Monday, Said he thought I might be interested in it. I know he was joking. I have a quandry, how do I classify it. Its nicely beveled on both sides, Very nice worked, tip damage is an ancient one, JD didn't break it but did carelessly handle it. I will say nothing to him about that. So do I call an obvious scraper or knife or both? Due to the scarcity of this material I'm surprised IMG_2236.JPGthat it wasn't used to make smaller items.

Looks like a fair sized knife blade with an edge that has been damaged.

Don't believe I know of any Points of that form 3 1/2 inches long.

I don't see any flake scars on the stone, or on your nice drawing. I'd say that was a piece of debitage that may or may not have been used. Gary

Hard to tell much, but a few more pictures might help.

It’s something I’ve got one very similar, don’t know if the shape is intentional or the product of an error in manufacturing or resharpening but my site I’ve confidently dated from 1500-900 bc so maybe I can give you a date
