I dug two interesting coins. My first wartime nickel, a 1944 P.

I bagged another OLDER coin too. It was of odd size for a novice.
Not a nickel, too big. Smaller than a quarter. Thinner too. Reeded edge.

OH MAN! How does one stop from rubbing the thing! WHAT IS IT??? 1923?
Whoa. What? Yup. 1923 1 Franc coin. As in FRENCH. Weird... Ya never know.

Yes it is a terrible cheap cell phone pic. It's how I operate.
Oh, and I am up to like 6 rusty pocket knives or so...

He will not know what an OD nickel is because he joined in March 2016.

Congrats on getting your first silver nickel! Once in a while a foreign coin appears in the mix. Well done sir!

THERE IT IS!

Grats on the war nick and may you find many many more. I had my best year ever last year digging them with 15 so there's a lot of 'em still out there. Matter of fact, I found many in "searched out" areas.

Thanks! No, no idea about a "OD" nickel. I only dug one wheat, and 5 memorial pennies besides these two.
So as a percentage, my two coins were just FINE. I dug a lot of junk too I can assure you...

Congrats on the OD nickel. If you hang around and read many posts, I am certain you will figure it out. It has taken some people many years to find their first war nickel. I also pulled a french coin here in Ohio. It's my oldest coin so far (1812 5 Francs).
