Found this item in a debris field of an old demolished civil war home used as a hospital in No. Virginia. It is 17 1/2" long by 8 1/2". It appears to have floral decorations or seashell designs on it. Not sure which end should be up. It is iron. The back is hollowed out and has two vertical flanges which the photo with the pencil shows. May have been used to hang the item. I don't really know. My best guess is it may be a doorknocker. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
