Metal Detecting
Not sure what this is. It looks cool and the middle hinges in and out. Then, the ring around it says 1829 and k and then h or k and then c or o. Really clueless on this one and can't figure it out at all. Posted more pics in the reply.

And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.... Keep looking you might find the rest of what that thing went on. If you do? Don't open it.

Could it be a wind cover for a pipe or something?

I don't think it is a drawer pull...

How would it mount?
In the shown sample pictures the center mounts and the ring swings out.
This has the ring on the bottom and the center swings out and I see no means to mount it.

So I'm thinking it would sit on top of some sort of bowl
like the incense burner top idea.

On the first pic, there's a front part that sticks out and is hollow. I think a screw might of went thru there to make it a drawer pull, but its open to opinion and im not sure still sooo ya. Thanks for your thoughts and everyone else too so far. ~TheButtonKing

Did you clean the dirt out of the stud on the piece yet? Was it threaded? I am leaning towards the drawer pull myself now. The stud would have stuck into the drawer and it looks like a screw would have gone through the hole in the edge to keep the pull lined up. That would also explain the decorative edge on what would be the bottom if it were a lid.
