I was in BG, KY this week and did some door knocking. I got a permission to detect a property built in 1851. The owner told me that the property had been hunted by a group of detectorists when they purchased the house in the 80s. She went on to say that they only found a few relics because most of the yard had been backfilled by the previous owner. She said that I was welcome to try. So I told her that I would let her and her husband know if I found anything and that I was going to be hunting with a buddy of mine, a local detectorist that I met on KDD facebook page a few months ago, Robert Sorgmann. As we were detecting, the owner came out to talk and gave us some more history of the house. It was the main house for a huge farm that had been built by a Union sympathizer and taken over by Confederates and used as a boarding house until the Union took BG. Cool stuff. We had one night to hunt and were able to save a little history. But we will be back again in the future.

Looks like the first group left you a few nice finds. Those are some coins and relics any of us would be happy with.

Good show sir!

Congrats, nice finds! It's been ages since I've seen a graduation key.

Bharpring, I thought that place was "Hunted Out". Lol Nice finds and Saved History. Continued Success to you in your return hunts.

Excellent job on the saves, you may want to take a reL good look at that 1916 Mercury. Is there a "D" mint mark?? Wouldn't that be nice?

Nice finds, lots of history in BG! Just 25 minutes from me! Congrats!

I would definitely go back a few times and make good friends with them...โ€ฆ.way to cool to pass up. Research the area around it and see if you can follow up on the old farm.

Great finds by you two.The first group must have been using home made detectors.

Well done, both of you! ๐Ÿ™Œ Hope you get to go back.

Congratualtions on the nice coin shooting! :occasion14:
