Hi gang, I found this buried in a farmer's field where an old house once stood...it measures 1 1/4" X 2 3/8" and is made of copper I think (tarnish is greenish on front and back. I thought it was a small buckle at first but the loop on top makes me think it used to hang on something. Thanks in advance, Nat

The back looks just like the front, with the exception of the place the little hanger thing that is welded to it at the top.

Maybe the weighted piece that would blow around at the bottom of a bamboo wind chime.

I like BTB’s thought it looks like part of a wind chime

My father used to sell some Asian furniture. I remember chest drawers had pulls on them (think knobs) that were similar looking. The top welded thingy would always open up and you'd have to go back with a pair of pliers to wrap it around the horizontal pin. That's what I see and I'm sticking to it!!! Of course, IMHO.

Looks kinda like a lid of sorts. Fragrance/incense
Right now I am leaning towards Tony's idea. That top "welded" piece looks to me like a "stop" so to prevent one from pulling the lid completely off ? This is the closest thing I found to use as an example. Just a thought.

I really don't know , but the pic did remind me of an old (40's or so) makeup case I found a few years back. They were often gold plated had a lot of doors and fancy art deco stuff. The hinges were made that way a lot. Mine was down to the copper when I found it. Just a thought...

With a couple of good possibilities I'll go ahead and mark this solved, thanks for the input!

It is a drawer pull as mentioned above. Have seen this on many Chests at auctions
