--'don't faucet, spigot!--

found this 'mini' on my neighbors lawn. (She is 101, sharp and well alive living on her GGGrand Fathers farm! © 1820) the few hunt's I have done there, I have only come up with a Walking Lib and a few mercs and one tapping spile (still in use). One old field was a ball field and carnival lot in the 50's. more then 80 silver dimes retrieved, one W.L., a few Buff Nics, Barb and W. quarters, many wheaties and my first arrow head! From the wood lot, (First Nation trail that crosses the gorge) Spanish Silver!, (2, 1/2 real) and, (of all things) a gold plated Lajos Kossuth coin!! (here in the Finger Lakes??!!??)- and a 1/2 cent from the cemetery (most graves moved to the newer 'incorporated' yard closer to town early last century) Oldest stone still there is 1813!
Any how, my question is, any tips on 'unfreezing' the valve?? I did leave it in boiled water for a few min-- didn't work. Perhaps some olive oil???
-- p.s., sure hope to find that ld 1802 half dime there, then can 'buy the farm'----
pss, having trouble inserting image, will try with a 'reply'

Soak the valve in some vinegar for a day or two.

When you're done soaking, rub the valve with baking soda to remove the tarnish and make it shiny if you want that look. It will neutralize the acidic action of the vinegar also.

I was wondering what might happen with the acid of vinegar, the spout has such a nice patina. so, with the mud out of the ends, I was going to fill the insides to see what happens-- thanks for the tip and I hope to post some pix--
