Dog walk turns into a relic hunt

Hi all Finally got some rain about 2 inches.The water ways near me only have water in them when it rains and often quite empty a few hours after the rain stops.Took the other dog which we own for a walk along the creek after work last nite.Hes known as an australian Kelpie cattle or sheep dog .Most are quite smart except the one we own he,s silly and has as much use as a square wheel. lol While walking a long a picked a couple pottery ale bottles and a single coin washed out of the creek bank.The site was that of the Cornish United mine , the shaft was long ago filled in but theres a few relics still to had around this site after the rain.

While i slid down the back to get the bottles the dog got onto a rabbit scent and went to the near rabbit warren.I couldn,t see him but i could hear he whinning as he knew rabbits were in their burrows but he had no idea how to get them.Smart dog would try and dig the rabbits out but mine just runs from hole to hole whining. lol

the bottles date from the victorian era about 1890 and the coin is an early 1850's penny.[young head]

Those bottles look like they were lost yesterday tinpan, except I think you would get more than 5 cents for 'recycling' them, very nice
The dog's never useless, if nothing else, an excuse to get out and find treasures

Nice finds, the only finds in creek beds here are old mattresses, bums and liquor bottles (modern)..........

i had an english pointer and while walking him one day he broke loose from the leash and it took me over an hour to catch him..
but he didnt lead me to any goodies, but i learned hot to hang onto the leash better...

thanks for the reply, The rain is the key factor here,no man made digging device can remove soil like the power of water.I just took advantage of this.

A simple yes or no would have done. Try answering the question, or are you implying that detecting is recreational? The question was not, is your dog aloud to find stuff? It was, did you get or seek permission to detect it (I know you never mentioned detecting it)?

The 4 largest groups of miners in the rebellion were the americans,cornish,chiness,irish ,welsh, i have them to thank for the freedom to hunt on public land. A miner's right is living history and the best relic i have.Theres also 150 years of basic rules for miners and not law.That defines a miner from a chum.

You seem know some things about our Laws but I know none of yours. I'm trying to learn what its like in Australia, so are you able detect that area or not?
