Maybe this man.
You could contact the next of kin and verify the service number, then return it as a nice gesture if the number is a 'hit'.
Edward J. Carr, age 65, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Trenton, N.J.

Born in Chippewa Falls, Wis., he has been an area resident for the past 40 years, residing in Bristol Boro for 19 years. Mr. Carr was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War, was a member of the American Legion Post #382, the 40/8 V929, the Marine Corp. League, was a Ham Radio Operator (No. N3JQL) and was a C.B. Radio enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Merle (nee Korson) Carr; one son, Jason Carr and his wife, Connie of Levittown; one daughter, Melissa Hunt of Norristown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jason Carr, Erin Carr and Krystal Hunt; and his cat, Faith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Boro. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem. Friends may call Tuesday morning 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Merle Carr, 325 Brook Street, Bristol, Pa., 19007. Wade Funeral Home | Bristol, PA | Voted Best Funeral Home in Bucks County

The tag dates before they changed the ID number to the social security number, and I don't know the date on that change. Also the tag is USNR,
(US Naval Reserve) and the above named fellow was a marine. My Navy number started 457 and this one is 433, so my swag is a different guy.
I joined in '55, so he was probably a Korean War vet that joined before my enlistment. My tag has a P for Protestant, I reckon the C stands for Catholic. O is blood type.

Hey, boats- It's VERY possible the man was Corpsman. The USNR tag, with the info (IF same man) of being a "Marine Vet and member of the MCL, would indicate he was FMF. That's my background, as well, although I was regular Navy not USNR. I DID spend a good deal of time in a Marine Uniform, and am an accepted member in Marine organizations......... That would explain the anomolly.
