Does Tnet have a 'forum' for Collector's Plates?

Hello all!!
I don't post often, but I sure do read many of the other posts here on Tnet and am always amazed and inspired by the many fantastic finds you all make.

The wife recently came across a collection of Collectors Plates, some are Danish, some are English, and a few are Canadian. Some go back to the mid 1970's or so. Forgive me for not having specific info. as to what she has but she isn't home right now and I'm not sure where she has put them up.

Is there a place (perhaps on Tnet) where I can get some general info. such as value and rarity of her stuff?? She isn't interested in selling any of them just wants info. for insurance purposes in case they are valuable. A few have price tags that show they originally sold for $60-$70 dollars many years ago, I don't even know if they go up in value or remain the same or perhaps even lose value.
Can anyone point me in the general direction for where I may find this info.??

Thanks in advance!!! Azman-1

Your first best bet would be e-bay punch in a few descriptive word and see what you will get. And of course the Web is the first place I'll look...then the libray etc. I can help some... since I have bought and sold many.from Norman Rockwell to old unmark blue china.

Any info will help. Rob :icon_study:

Azman........I am interested in porcelain. I would suggest you look at the bottoms of the plates. You should see some sort of markings, ie: the name of the manufacturer, usually if the plates are of a limited edition there will be a number, also dots are an indication of its age etc. I am not familiar with American porcelain as I live in England, but I do know a little about English porcelain.

Well, there's a hunting club that buys them for their skeet shooting range at $1.00 per plate!

:D

Just kidding.

Yes, they are important collectors items, but like any other hobby it takes
some research to find the real value.
I would take a look at how they are selling on eBay

http://search.ebay.com/collector-plates

and take it from there.
Good luck.
