I'd say drawer pull also. I would think it would burn your fingers if it was a lantern handle. they are usually much longer loops.

It certainly looks to be colonial period, makes sense as to why it's stamped with a makers mark as well.
Furniture/hardware makers were proud of what they made back then... unlike the crap that's factory produced today! :laughing7:

I prefer the idea of buried treasure chest handles over drawer pulls.

Me too...

ALL handles I have ever found belong to treasure chests...

Too bad they fell off the chests no where near the actual chest :P

I believe you have a Drawer Handle from a 19th Century Chest?

Chest of Drawers.jpeg

W & J Sloane...Furniture Manufactures...Trademark... WJ

"On March 2, 1843, the company was founded as a rug importer and seller by William Sloane, who had just emigrated from Kilmarnock, Scotland, a town famous for expensive furniture, fine carpets and rugs. All teak and jute resources coming from East Bengal. In 1852, his younger brother John W. Sloane joined the firm, when it was renamed W. & J. Sloane."

I’d say drawer pull OR the front bumper off a ‘71 Fiat

This appears to just be a very common handle that could be used for many things. We had one on the outside cellar door and a like one on the big toy box for the kids. We also had one on the outside privy door. The outside pot that was used to heat the wash water (camp fire) had a lid that was like that.
