I originally posted this to Indian Artifacts thinking it was some type of an ornimant or pendant. A member there 'TN Mountians' sugested I might try the fossil board to see if I could get some ideas. So has anyone out there ever seen something like this piece and what might it Be

Looks like a old molar tooth of something from the top, but just a guess, try postiong it in the "What is It" page

it's not a tooth plate., and imho it's probibly not a fossil. it looks like a piece of ironstone that was eroded in a streambed. if you found this in with artifacts, then it was probibly picked up by an indian for it's unusual appearance. mabye for a pendant that was never made.

I agree with 'lordpiney' -- this is not likely to be a fossil. It is far more likely to be a geofact.
