Does anyone know what this is???

Its been awhile since ive dug something that i just have no idea as to what it is. There are pins in both the top and bottom so the larger ones wouldnt have moved, yet between every other one there appears to be smaller ones that do which you cant see. The other smaller ones did move much like a pocket knife id say. Some were stright and pointy the others curved like a gauge.

There was no elec, no barn and the object is smaller than a pocket knife so i doubt it had anything to do with a horse.... gun possibly. I was thinking some form of lock or clock ... but my best guess is for a smoking pipe.
