Does anyone know if this breastplate is the real deal and how much $ is it worth?

Found this breastplate from the union soldiers Sherman's march to sea area. Can anyone tell if it is real and how much $ it's worth thanks

I'm no expert on this stuff, but if you were in a civil war site and actually dug the piece, I think it's the real deal. I don't think anyone would bury a fake breastplate. The patina matches with authentic breastplates I've seen:thumbsup:

Yea, it's real, it looks like it was in a wet area, that's why the iron loops are bubbling through the back. Nice find, hard to judge value, but maybe worth around $100.00 to the right person.

Unfortunately asking and getting are two different things. Watch Ebay for ones that are actually sold, that will give you a good idea of value Depths of History.
