If you get the other half it might make £80. As is, you would be lucky to get £25. Although ebay can be hit & miss & on a good day it might make you £50!

Whoa! You did very well finding that piece! Congrats!

Congrats on the find! I would be heading right back to where you found it. There has to more things in the area!! Keep us posted on your finds!

Those loops on the socket are not exactly common features on cast Bronze Age spears, looks skillfully crafted. It's a shame it is broken but that piece may indicate that more ancient finds await in the area. I'd search long and hard for more. Best of luck.

Thats a great find! Grid that place from all directions, may you get the missing tip or more Bronze Age! Congrats!

Very nice find indeed, there has to be more of the piece out there.

It was in a ploughed field in hertfordshire , england and thank you everyone for commenting :)

I have only ever found the tips of these, if that were might it would be the largest section I own. Unless you have a great site, this may take some beating.

Yeap another good example of a Bronze Age Spear tip. I don't think you know how lucky you are, this period is very hard to break into, but you now have 2 great finds. Something special is going on in that field, they probably lived nearby, keep grid that area to death!
(I've never had such large pieces of these, only a small tip or two)

If these pieces are from the same field you could have a smelters hoard, as both pieces are broken.

Wow, I must have missed this thread when it first came out. Too bad the OP could not use a catchier title, but I guess in the beginning he did not know what he had found. In any event, these finds are sensational! A 3000 year old spear tip deserves more recognition.

I'm not sure that this last spearhead (a light throwing spear/javelin methinks) is broken. It is obviously a flawed casting but conceivably still could have been hafted. It's not something the maker would take much pride in though, heh. If this find is from the same general area, I'd definitely be thinking that there is a scattered hoard of scrap bronze lurking underground, or if not that perhaps the area was chosen for actual bronze-working operations.
