Does anyone else use treasure net as a "cloud" record of your finds? white gold band

I try to list each "notable" find on treasure net, and use those posts as a dated record of my finds, stored forever in the "cloud."

Some day, I hope a find is too valuable to publicize, but that hasn't been a problem so far. I've withheld only one find to date, due to agreement. But I hope to be able to list that one soon.

Here's the latest, from a local park. white 18k gold, 3.47dwt.

I have a blog that I started recently, that I stocked with posts that I first made here over the last two years. But I've been adding newer posts with additional details, the "real gen" as Hemingway used to say. http://blingfinder.blogspot.com/

Yes kind of. I said when I joined I would list every hunt, however good. I have stuck to that & although once I went a little deleting mad, this is a good historical record of my finds.

I post almost every one of my hunts as well. But I print them all out in color and store in clear document protectors and store labeled 3-ring binders. Also, before I print them out I add some extra info that I can't post online like site name, location, owner's name, etc. I've been doing this for almost 8 years, and wish I had started earlier. It's pretty cool to sit down and start reading through some of my old hunt stories. That's one reason why I tend to be so long-winded in my posts. It's like a personal detecting diary for me. Might even use this stuff to put together a book one day, although I doubt anyone would buy it ....haha!

Nice finds! I posted pix of finds years ago, and the pictures are no longer there, though the posts still are. I don't rely on the net as things can be lost forever when formats change. I keep backup files on my computer-- photos, notes, scanned letter from class ring returned, etc. I also used to keep a journal-- just a Word file that I'd add entries to each hunt. I don't keep the journal like I used to, but it has all the info from my early hunts-- critical during my learning curve.

Although I do keep a thread in Best Finds as a list, my better finds are in a PhotoBucket account I have linked in my signature.

Best thing to do would be to bury the paper trail rather than rely on the www.
Don't forget to bury something metallic for future MD'ers!

Kudos to all the recordkeepers! My only advice is don't rely on any website to save your data; we've all seen websites go TU once in a while.

Nice! Nothing like gold!

You don't have to sell it! Post it online. We'll all read it for sure.
